Fecundis Lab S.L. has received Eurostars funding for HyperFlow, an international R&D project developed in collaboration with Beonchip S.L. and Fertilitets Klinikken Lygten. The project aims to design, develop, and validate a fully automated microfluidic device for sperm selection and functional enhancement in in vitro fertilization treatments.
HyperFlow was approved under the international Eureka-Eurostars programme and is funded through the Interempresas Internacional programme managed by CDTI, under the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
A new approach to sperm preparation
In IVF laboratories, sperm preparation is a key step before fertilization. Conventional methods are widely used to recover motile sperm, but they rely on manual procedures and do not fully address sperm functional competence.
HyperFlow aims to respond to this need by combining microfluidics, automation, and sperm biology in a single device. The goal is to create a more precise, reproducible, and standardized process for sperm selection and functional enhancement.
By integrating these steps into an automated system, HyperFlow seeks to support future IVF workflows with a practical technology that can be incorporated into assisted reproduction laboratories.
An international consortium
The HyperFlow project brings together complementary expertise from three partners.
Fecundis contributes its experience in sperm biology and the development of sperm-centered technologies for assisted reproduction. Beonchip S.L. brings its expertise in microfluidic device design, manufacturing, and automation. Fertilitets Klinikken Lygten (Copenhagen Fertility Center) contributes its clinical experience in assisted reproduction for the evaluation and validation of the prototype.
Together, the consortium is working to develop and validate HyperFlow as a new technological solution for IVF laboratories.
